Arsenal’s interest in securing a transfer deal for Benjamin Sesko is well-documented, according to Charles Watts, but a formal bid has yet to be submitted, with talks ongoing behind the scenes.

Arsenal’s interest in signing RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko is no secret, according to journalist Charles Watts. However, despite the clear intent, Arsenal has yet to make a formal bid for the Slovenian forward.

Sesko, who has been in scintillating form this season with eight goals in 17 Bundesliga appearances, has long been admired by Arsenal. The club’s need for a new striker has become more urgent following Gabriel Jesus’ season-ending ACL injury and Bukayo Saka’s hamstring issue.

Watts speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his latest Daily Briefing column explained the challenges Arsenal faces in securing Sesko’s signature during the January transfer window. “Arsenal want Benjamin Sesko. That’s not a secret, everyone knows it. We knew it back in the summer and we still know it now. But obviously wanting him and getting him are two completely different things altogether. RB Leipzig don’t want to lose their key striker halfway through the season when they are competing for a Champions League place.”

Leipzig manager Marco Rose has also dismissed the possibility of a January exit for Sesko, emphasizing the club’s reluctance to part ways with their star forward mid-season. This means Arsenal would need to table a significant offer to tempt Leipzig into selling.

Despite the hurdles, Arsenal remains committed to bolstering their attacking options and Sesko is high on their list of targets. The club’s decision-makers are reportedly weighing up their options and considering a potential bid in the coming days.
