Arsenal have set their asking price for Jakub Kiwior as the club prepares for potential transfer interest in their versatile defender this January.
Arsenal have set their asking price for versatile defender Jakub Kiwior, with the club bracing for potential transfer interest in the January window. Kiwior, who joined Arsenal from Serie B side Spezia Calcio in January 2023, has made 52 appearances in all competitions since his arrival. Despite his contributions, he has often found himself as a bit-part player due to the club’s well-documented injury woes.
The 24-year-old Polish defender has proven to be a reliable backup to William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes at center-back, as well as providing cover at full-back. However, with the emergence of Myles Lewis-Skelly as an option at left-back, Kiwior’s opportunities have diminished.
Several clubs have shown interest in Kiwior, with Napoli and Marseille reportedly keen on securing his services. According to reports, Arsenal is demanding a fee of at least £20 million for the defender. This valuation reflects Kiwior’s potential and the impact he could have at another club.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has acknowledged the interest but remains focused on the current squad. He stated, “When something is in the market that we can afford and believe is going to have a real impact on the team, we have to be open to that possibility. That market is much more limited than the one in the summer, but I don’t know. People’s expectations and dreams are something good.”
The potential departure of Kiwior is not the only defensive reshuffle Arsenal might face this January, as left-back Kieran Tierney is reportedly closing in on a return to Celtic. Arteta has also hinted at the possibility of bringing in new additions to bolster the squad.
