Arsenal’s £70m pursuit of Benjamin Sesko transfer stalls as wage demands complicate the high-stakes Sesko Arsenal transfer saga.
Arsenal’s ambitious Benjamin Sesko transfer pursuit has reportedly hit a significant snag, as the North London club grows increasingly frustrated over RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko’s wage demands.
The Gunners, who made Sesko their top attacking target this summer, were prepared to meet Leipzig’s £70 million valuation. However, negotiations have stalled due to the 22-year-old’s request for a salary package that exceeds Arsenal’s expectations according to The Sun. This impasse has forced the club to reconsider their strategy as they look to bolster their frontline after finishing second in the Premier League for the third consecutive season.

Sesko, on Arsenal’s radar since last summer, has also attracted interest from other European giants and previously turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi side Al-Hilal. His agent, Elvis Basanovic, emphasized that any move would be conducted with respect for Leipzig, stating, “Even if there may be or will be a strong desire of the player to move to a certain club, we will never force or blackmail RB Leipzig”.
As a contingency, Arsenal are also monitoring Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres, who had a sensational season with 53 goals and 13 assists in 52 games. Though Gyokeres is aware he’s not the first-choice target, he remains eager for a Premier League move and could become the Gunners’ fallback option if the Sesko deal collapses.
With the transfer window heating up, Arsenal’s sporting director Andrea Berta faces a delicate balancing act—securing a marquee striker without compromising the club’s wage structure. Whether Sesko dons the red and white or Arsenal pivot to Plan B, the coming weeks promise high drama in North London.
