The Arsenal forward, who had only scored two goals this season going into the game, scored a hat-trick in 27 minutes to lead the Gunners to the Carabao Cup semifinals.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed his delight over Gabriel Jesus’s performance in the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Crystal Palace. Jesus, who had been struggling with form, delivered a stunning second-half hat-trick to secure a 3-2 victory for the Gunners.
Arteta praised Jesus, saying, “I’m so pleased for him. It’s been a long period without goals, and today, to score three goals – the three types of goals – was a great thing for him. He brings something unique to the team, and Gabi is a big asset for us.”
The Brazilian striker, who had only scored twice this year before the match, found the net three times in just 27 minutes, showcasing his sharpness and determination. Arteta emphasized the importance of consistency, stating, “It’s now about consistency. We need to give him more games because when a player is in that moment, it’s important for them to continue.”
Arteta also defended his decision to make several changes to the starting lineup that drew 0-0 with Everton. “I thought it was appropriate and good for the team to make those changes,” he said. “You are right or wrong in relation to the result basically.”
With this impressive performance, Jesus has not only boosted his confidence but also provided a much-needed spark for Arsenal’s campaign. Arteta’s faith in Jesus seems to be paying off, and the team will be looking to build on this momentum as they aim for further success in the Carabao Cup and beyond.
