Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares’ hopes for a fresh start at Lazio have been dashed by an early injury setback. Just days after joining the Italian club on a season-long loan, Tavares was forced off the pitch with a left thigh injury during his debut friendly match.
This comes after a disappointing loan spell at Nottingham Forest last season, where he struggled for playing time. Despite expressing his desire to fight for a place at Arsenal, Tavares was sent out on loan again.
While Lazio seemed a promising opportunity for regular minutes, his debut was marred by the injury. This raises concerns as Tavares has a history of injury problems, which have hampered his progress in the past.
