Arsenal legend David Seaman has provided a glimmer of hope for Gunners fans as he hinted that Bukayo Saka’s injury is not as serious as initially feared. Saka, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury sustained while on international duty, missed Arsenal’s last two matches, including a shock 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth and a narrow win over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.
Seaman, who was at Arsenal’s training ground last Thursday, revealed that he saw Saka wearing his boots and heading off for one-on-one rehab. “I saw Bukayo with his boots on, not trainers, and he was going off to do some one-to-one rehab,” Seaman told Betway. “That was a good sign. Hopefully, it’s not too bad.
Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager, has been coy about Saka’s fitness but is hopeful that the winger will be able to return for the crucial match against Liverpool this weekend. “We’re not going to be at our strongest, depending on Saka,” Arteta admitted after the win over Shakhtar Donetsk. “These are the games that tell you how good you are, or how good you’re going to be in the season.”
The return of Saka would be a massive boost for Arsenal, especially with other key players like William Saliba suspended and Martin Odegaard still recovering from injury. Arteta will be desperate for one of his main sources of creativity to be available for the match against Liverpool, who currently sit top of the Premier League table.
Seaman remains cautiously optimistic, “I’m a little bit nervy, if I’m honest, but seeing Bukayo with his boots on was a good sign. Hopefully, he’ll a part against Liverpool.
