According to a report by Sports Zone, Arsenal has reached an agreement with Mikel Merino (28) over a four-year deal. The Gunners are now in talks with Real Sociedad to finalize the deal.
Merino, who had an outstanding season at Real Sociedad, became a national hero during Euro 2024. His stunning header in the quarterfinals against Germany helped Spain qualify for the semifinals, where they eventually beat France and England in the final. Despite starting only one game during the tournament, Merino proved his worth and caught Arsenal’s attention. The Gunners are keen to strengthen their midfield.
Negotiations are progressing in the right direction, with Merino having agreed to personal terms with Arsenal. The next step is to reach a total agreement with Real Sociedad, whose asking fee will play a crucial role in sealing the deal. Arsenal is mindful of their budget and won’t overspend on the midfielder.
