Arsenal have been provided with fresh hope of securing Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia’s services in the summer.
Arsenal’s quest to strengthen their goalkeeping department has taken a promising turn as Espanyol’s sporting director, Fran Garagarza, has hinted at the possibility of a summer move for their talented shot-stopper, Joan Garcia. The 23-year-old Spanish goalkeeper has been on Arsenal’s radar for some time, and recent developments suggest that the Gunners may finally be able to secure his services.
Garcia, who has been a standout performer for Espanyol, has a release clause of €25 million in his contract, which could rise to €30 million depending on certain conditions. Arsenal had previously made a €20 million bid for the goalkeeper last summer, but it was turned down by the Catalan club. However, Garagarza’s recent comments indicate that Espanyol may be willing to negotiate if a substantial offer comes in early during the upcoming transfer window.

The young goalkeeper, who won a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, has expressed his desire to move to a bigger club and compete at the highest level. Garcia’s potential move to Arsenal would provide much-needed competition for the current first-choice goalkeeper, David Raya, and offer a long-term solution for the North London club.
Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, has been keen on adding depth to the squad, and Garcia’s arrival would be a significant step in that direction. The Gunners have been monitoring the goalkeeper’s progress closely and are expected to make another attempt to sign him at the end of the season.
Garcia’s impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, and he is highly regarded across Europe. His potential move to Arsenal would not only bolster the team’s goalkeeping options but also provide a platform for the young Spaniard to showcase his talents on a bigger stage.
