Arsenal Given Transfer Caution Against Signing Star Once Regarded as ‘Generational Talent’

Arsenal face a crucial transfer decision as warnings emerge over their £40m pursuit of Jack Grealish, highlighting the need for Arsenal transfer caution.

Arsenal have been urged to exercise transfer caution in their £40m pursuit of Manchester City midfielder Jack Grealish. Despite being regarded as a “generational talent,” concerns have emerged over whether Grealish aligns with Mikel Arteta’s squad needs. Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour believes the Gunners should prioritize other areas instead of pursuing the struggling City star.

Grealish, who joined City for a record £100 million four years ago, has struggled for game time under Pep Guardiola. The 29-year-old started just one league match in 2025 and was left out of City’s squad for their final game of the season against Fulham. With City reportedly willing to part ways with him for £40 million, several clubs have expressed interest in securing his services.

Despite Grealish’s undeniable talent, Parlour believes Arsenal should look elsewhere for reinforcements. He pointed out that Gabriel Martinelli regained form towards the end of the season, making a move for Grealish unnecessary. Instead, he suggested that Arsenal should target younger, more dynamic wingers to strengthen their squad.

While Arsenal may not be the ideal landing spot, Grealish is expected to attract interest from other Premier League clubs. Former teammate Shay Given believes that Grealish could still walk into any top-six side. Parlour, however, speculated that a return to Aston Villa or another Premier League club might be a better option for the midfielder.

Parlour emphasized that Arsenal should focus on signing a striker rather than a winger. He highlighted Benjamin Sesko as a promising target, describing him as a strong, quick forward with a keen eye for goal. Additionally, Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a deal for Martin Zubimendi, which could further bolster their midfield options.

While Grealish remains a talented player, Arsenal must carefully consider whether he fits into their long-term plans. With Martinelli’s resurgence and other pressing transfer needs, the Gunners may be better off investing in younger, more dynamic players rather than pursuing a deal for the Manchester City star.
