Arsenal have initiated talks with Mikel Merino’s representatives as they eye a €25 million deal for the Real Sociedad midfielder, according to Tutto Juve
The Gunners are reportedly considering a €25 million bid for the 28-year-old Spaniard.
Merino, who has impressed in La Liga and the recent Euro 2024 tournament, is in the final year of his Real Sociedad contract; he is expected to leave the club this summer, and rumours suggest that Arteta is personally attempting to persuade Merino to join Arsenal in the summer.
Last season, the 28-year-old scored seven goals and assisted four times in 39 appearances between La Liga and the Champions League.
Meanwhile, the midfielder has only missed 13 games due to injury in the last five seasons, which the Gunners regard as a significant advantage.
Merino looks like he could be a good fit for Arsenal as they surely need a replacement for injury-prone Thomas Partey,
The Real Sociedad star would be a terrific addition for the North London club if they manage to sign him in this transfer window to strengthen their midfield.
