Arsenal are reportedly preparing a bid around £55-60 million for Sporting Lisbon’s striker Viktor Gyokeres. This move comes as they seek an upgrade at the center-forward position.

According to the Fabrizio Romano via Daily Briefing with Caughtoffside, the Gunners plan to resume negotiations for Gyokeres after finalizing Eddie Nketiah’s transfer to Marseille. However, it remains uncertain if they can reach an agreement with Sporting, who are demanding the full £86 million release clause for the prolific striker, who scored 43 goals in 50 games last season.

The Sweden international could be a valuable addition for Arsenal, providing an upgrade over the inconsistent and injury-prone Gabriel Jesus. Nketiah’s departure would also leave Mikel Arteta’s squad lacking depth up front.

Chelsea remains a strong contender in the race for Gyokeres, potentially viewing him as a more affordable option compared to Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. Atletico Madrid has also shown interest, while Liverpool, previously interested, now seem to have deprioritized signing a striker.
