Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Isak, having expressed their interest during the previous summer transfer window. But could swoop Hugo Ekitike as a potential alternative, valued at £60 million.
Arsenal’s pursuit of a reliable forward continues to dominate headlines as the club grapples with injuries and a lack of firepower in their attacking lineup. With Alexander Isak reportedly topping their wishlist, the Gunners have now identified Hugo Ekitike as a potential alternative, valued at £60 million, according to The Sun.
The North London club has faced significant challenges this season, with injuries to key players like Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka, and Gabriel Martinelli leaving Mikel Arteta’s side short of options up front. This has forced the manager to rely on makeshift solutions, such as deploying Mikel Merino as a striker, supported by Leandro Trossard and Ethan Nwaneri.

Ekitike, currently impressing at Eintracht Frankfurt, has emerged as a viable target. The France Under-21 international has scored 19 goals this season, showcasing his potential as a prolific forward. His recent hat-trick against England’s U21 side further highlights his capabilities. Ekitike’s valuation is notably lower than what Newcastle United would demand for Isak, making him an attractive option for Arsenal.
However, Arsenal faces stiff competition from other Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester United, who are also in the market for attacking reinforcements. Ekitike’s desire to play for a Champions League club could give Arsenal an edge, as they are well-positioned to secure a top-four finish.
Arteta’s frustration over the club’s failure to sign a forward during the January transfer window has been evident. The summer window presents an opportunity for Arsenal to address this issue and bolster their squad. Whether they succeed in landing Ekitike or Isak remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Arsenal cannot afford to repeat past mistakes if they aim to compete at the highest level.
