Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is considering Ajax striker Brian Brobbey as an alternative option to the injury-prone Gabriel Jesus in the attack.

Brobbey, who scored 21 goals last season, is part of the Netherlands’ Euro squad. He is currently focused on the semi-final against England, with the possibility of playing in the Premier League next season.

A report from The Sun suggestΒ that both Manchester United and Arsenal are keen on the 22-year-old Dutch international. The transfer fee is estimated to be around Β£30 million.

Brobbey’s form has also caught the attention of his former boss, Erik ten Hag, leading to a Β£30 million battle for his signature. While some Italian clubs are interested, Brobbey has expressed a desire for a Premier League move, with Arsenal being one of the clubs he admires.

Gabriel Jesus frequent injuries since joining Arsenal in 2022 have left Arteta frustrated, prompting him to deploy Kai Havertz as number 9, despite originally recruiting the German as a replacement for Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka. The Gunners aim to strengthen their attacking opt ions this summer after narrowly missing out on the Premier League title for two consecutive seasons.

Brobbey’s qualities make him an attractive prospect: he is a brilliant finisher, strong, and quick on the ball. Arsenal needs to bring in a quality striker as well. Gabriel Jesus was quite underwhelming for Arsenal last season, and the Brazilian international will have to be replaced if Arsenal are serious about winning major trophies. Signing a more reliable goalscorer is a top priority for Mikel Arteta.

Brobbey certainly fits the profile, and he would prove to be a useful acquisition for the Gunners.
