According to Daily Mail, Premier League giants Arsenal plotted a late move to sign Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo during the summer transfer window before signing Raheem Sterling. Arsenal’s recruitment team strongly considered a move for the Cameroonian international before the deadline.

Mikel Arteta’s desire to bolster his attacking options was no secret. With the Gunners aiming to compete on multiple fronts this season, adding depth to the squad was a priority. The need for a versatile forward who could provide competition for Bukayo Saka and offer an alternative in the attacking third was evident. Bryan Mbeumo, with his impressive performances for Brentford, emerged as a potential target.

Mbeumo has been a standout performer for Brentford, consistently delivering in the Premier League. Last season, he notched up nine goals and six assists in 25 appearances, showcasing his ability to influence games both as a scorer and a creator. His versatility, capable of playing across the front line, made him an attractive option for Arsenal.

The Brentford forward has had an impressive start to the season, scoring three goals in three Premier League games.

Despite the strong interest, Arsenal ultimately decided against making a formal bid for Mbeumo. The club’s focus shifted towards securing Raheem Sterling on loan from Chelsea, a move that was finalized in the dying hours of the transfer window.
