While there was never much doubt about Raya’s permanent signing, leaving it unconfirmed opened the door for other clubs to make a play for him. However, both Raya and Arsenal were always on the same page about continuing together, and Brentford agreed to the loan-to-permanent structure.
Raya’s long-term deal solidifies him as Arsenal’s undisputed starting goalkeeper. This could pose a challenge for Aaron Ramsdale, the current England international. Ramsdale might not be thrilled with the prospect of becoming the backup option, potentially impacting team morale.
