Arsenal Enters Race to Sign a Wantaway Serie A Star

Arsenal Lookman transfer update – Mikel Arteta eyes Serie A star after managerial fallout.

Arsenal have reportedly joined the race to sign Ademola Lookman according to Daily Mail, the Atalanta forward who has had a public falling-out with his manager earlier this season, Gian Piero Gasperini. With Mikel Arteta keen to bolster his attacking options, the Nigerian international has emerged as a potential target for the Gunners.

Despite a strong campaign, Arsenal fell short in their Premier League title bid, finishing behind Liverpool. A key issue throughout the season was their lack of firepower, with the team scoring 63 league goals, significantly fewer than their rivals. Injuries and the absence of a traditional No. 9 have left Arteta searching for reinforcements.

Lookman has been a standout performer for Atalanta, helping them secure Europa League glory last season with a hat-trick in the final. His performances earned him the African Footballer of the Year award in December. However, his relationship with Gasperini has soured, with the manager publicly criticizing his penalty-taking ability after Atalanta’s Champions League exit. Lookman responded by calling Gasperini’s comments “deeply disrespectful.”

Arsenal are not the only club eyeing Lookman, as several teams are monitoring his situation. His contract runs until 2027, with a release clause of €55 million (£45.4m). Given his 20 goals and seven assists this season, he could be a valuable addition to Arteta’s squad.

Arsenal have also been linked with Viktor Gyokeres, Alexander Isak, and Benjamin Sesko, as Arteta looks to add more attacking depth. Newcastle’s Isak remains a long-term target, though his club is reluctant to sell.

With the summer transfer window approaching, Arsenal fans will be eager to see if Lookman makes the move to North London. His pace, creativity, and finishing ability could provide the spark Arsenal need to challenge for silverware next season.
