Arsenal striker Michelle Agyemang has suffered a season-ending ACL rupture injury while playing for England against Australia.
Arsenal have confirmed that Michelle Agyemang suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury while on international duty with England, ruling her out for the rest of the 2025/26 season. The 19-year-old forward, currently on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion, sustained the injury during England’s 3–0 win over Australia on October 28 at Pride Park.
Agyemang entered the game in the 62nd minute but collapsed in agony just before the 80-minute mark after her studs caught awkwardly in the turf. The forward was stretchered off in tears as concerned teammates surrounded her.
England manager Sarina Wiegman called the injury “horrible,” admitting, “It doesn’t look good.” The immediate signs suggested a serious issue, which medical scans later confirmed as a full ACL rupture.
Arsenal Issue Official Statement
In an official statement released on October 30, Arsenal confirmed the diagnosis and expressed their full support for the young striker.
“We send all our support to Michelle as she begins the road to recovery,” the club said.
Arsenal also revealed that they are working closely with Brighton’s medical staff to coordinate the best possible treatment and rehabilitation plan for Agyemang.
Shortly after the announcement, Agyemang shared an emotional message on Instagram, thanking fans and teammates for their support:
“Disappointed that results show a torn ACL. I am so grateful for all the kind words and support. Recovery starts now — I’ll be back stronger than before. In all things, I give thanks to the Most High God.”
Her resilience and positive attitude have already inspired an outpouring of encouragement from fans, teammates, and fellow professionals.
Rising Star Faces a Setback
Before the injury, Agyemang had been one of England’s most exciting young talents, impressing with her pace, finishing, and composure in front of goal. Her standout performances for Brighton and England’s youth teams had made her a key figure for the future of both club and country.
Teammate Aggie Beever-Jones, who also featured in the Australia match, said she was “praying” for Agyemang’s quick recovery, echoing the collective support across the football community.
