The North London club is preparing for their crucial Champions League last-16 tie against PSV Eindhoven with a severely depleted attacking lineup. Key players Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, and Kai Havertz are all sidelined through injury.

As a result, Arteta has been forced to rely on makeshift options in attack. Mikel Merino has stepped in as an emergency striker for the third consecutive match, but Arsenal have struggled in front of goal, failing to score in their last two games.

Arteta Confident in Arsenal’s Potential

Despite the challenges, Arteta insists his team has the quality to rise to the occasion.

“In the last two results, it’s been very different in terms of performance as well. Not getting the result that we want, but certainly being better, especially in the last game than the opposition. And the fact that we still have gears, even with the players that we have, to take the game to a different level,” Arteta explained.

The Spaniard underlined the importance of maintaining high standards and pushing every player to perform at their peak. He believes the team’s unity will help them overcome this difficult period.

“Every individual has to be at their best. And when we do that, with the team that we have and the connection we share, we are a really strong team.”

Champions League Motivation Driving the Squad

Arteta also highlighted the unique pressure and energy that comes with the Champions League knockout stages.

“Regardless of the situation in the league, when you reach this stage of the Champions League, there is something special. The atmosphere, the urgency—it gets the best out of you,” he said.

Arsenal Focused on Champions League Glory

While recent results have been frustrating, Arsenal remain determined to progress in Europe. Arteta’s belief in his players serves as a rallying call for the squad as they prepare for their clash against PSV Eindhoven.

If the Gunners can overcome their injury setbacks and rediscover their scoring touch, they have a strong chance of pushing deeper into the competition.
