Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided a mixed update on the fitness of key defenders Gabriel Magalhaes and Ben White ahead of the team’s Premier League trip to Newcastle United this Saturday.
Gabriel Magalhaes, who was forced off during the 2-2 draw with Liverpool last Sunday due to a knee injury, is on track to be fit for the upcoming match. Arteta confirmed that Gabriel has been undergoing tests and, if he completes today’s training session without any issues, he will be included in the squad for the Newcastle game.
However, the news isn’t as positive for Ben White. White, who also picked up an injury in the match against Liverpool, has not yet trained with the team and his availability remains uncertain. Arteta mentioned that White’s injury is a joint issue and they are still assessing his condition.
Arteta also provided updates on other injured players, confirming that Riccardo Calafiori and Martin Odegaard are definitely out for the Newcastle game, while Takehiro Tomiyasu is expected to be unavailable until after the November international break.
Despite the injury setbacks, Arteta remains optimistic about his team’s chances and is looking forward to the challenge at St James’ Park. He praised Newcastle as a “fantastic team, very well coached” and emphasized the importance of being fully prepared for the tough encounter.
Arsenal fans will be hoping for a positive result against Newcastle, and the return of Gabriel Magalhaes would certainly boost their chances. However, the uncertainty surrounding Ben White’s fitness adds an element of concern as they aim to maintain their strong position in the Premier League table.
