Kieran Tierney has been blocked by Arsenal from making a January transfer to Celtic.

Arsenal have blocked Kieran Tierney from making a January move to Celtic, despite an agreement for him to return to the Scottish club this summer. The Scotland international has entered the final six months of his contract at the Emirates and is expected to rejoin Celtic on a four-year deal in the summer.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers had hoped to bring forward the deal to this month, given Tierney’s limited playing time at Arsenal. However, Arsenal have decided to keep Tierney as part of their squad for the remainder of the season. The Gunners are currently in the title race and also have a busy European schedule ahead, making Tierney’s presence valuable.

Tierney missed the first four months of the season due to a hamstring injury sustained while playing for Scotland at Euro 2024. Since his return, he has struggled to secure a regular starting spot, with Oleksandr Zinchenko and young Myles Lewis-Skelly also vying for the left-back position.

Arsenal’s decision to block Tierney’s January exit highlights their commitment to maintaining squad depth and competitiveness in multiple competitions. While Tierney is set to return to Celtic in the summer, his immediate future remains at Arsenal.
