Arsenal began aggressively and were rewarded inside nine minutes. Sustained pressure saw efforts from Myles Lewis-Skelly and Mikel Merino blocked before Jurrien Timber’s deflected shot fell perfectly for Gabriel Jesus, who reacted quickest to prod home from close range.

The goal marked Jesus’ first Champions League strike in two years and set the tone for Arsenal’s fearless approach on one of Europe’s biggest stages.

Inter Respond but Arsenal Stay Composed

Inter Milan briefly threatened to wrestle control when Petar Sučić unleashed a stunning long-range strike into the top corner after Arsenal failed to fully clear their lines. The equaliser sparked the home crowd and lifted Inter’s tempo.

However, Arsenal remained composed. Cristian Mosquera produced crucial defensive interventions to deny Marcus Thuram and Sučić, ensuring the Gunners weathered the spell without conceding further ground.

Arsenal’s dominance from dead-ball situations proved decisive once again. Bukayo Saka delivered a deep corner which Leandro Trossard cleverly nodded back across goal. The ball clipped the bar before Jesus reacted fastest to head in his second of the night.

It was Arsenal’s 19th goal from a corner this season, a remarkable statistic that highlights Arteta’s tactical edge in European competition.

After the break, Arsenal controlled proceedings. Eberechi Eze forced Yann Sommer into a sharp save, Trossard volleyed narrowly wide, and Saka was denied by a perfectly timed Alessandro Bastoni tackle.

Inter pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but David Raya stood firm, producing a vital double save to preserve Arsenal’s advantage. Arteta then introduced Declan Rice, Gabriel, Ben White, Gabriel Martinelli and Gyokeres to manage the closing stages.

The decisive moment arrived in the 83rd minute. Following an Inter corner, Martinelli launched a long clearance into space. Viktor Gyokeres powered past his marker before curling a sensational 25-yard effort into the top corner.

The strike ended any hope of an Inter comeback and showcased Arsenal’s devastating counter-attacking threat.

Arteta’s Arsenal Send Statement to Europe

Tactically, Arsenal’s high press, defensive discipline and set-piece execution overwhelmed Inter, who slipped to a third consecutive Champions League defeat.

Jesus’ performance strengthens his case for the starting role, while Gyokeres’ impact off the bench underlined Arsenal’s depth. Saka and Mosquera also delivered standout displays in a complete team performance.

With one league-phase match remaining, Arsenal are now on course to become the first side to win all eight fixtures, reinforcing their status as genuine European contenders.
