Arsenal Women have reportedly identified Nick Cushing, the current head coach of New York City FC’s men’s squad, as their preferred candidate to succeed Jonas Eidevall according to Sky Sport. Eidevall resigned earlier this month following a disappointing start to the season.
Nick Cushing, a former Manchester City Women’s manager, has been linked with the role due to his impressive track record in women’s football. During his tenure at Manchester City, Cushing led the team to the Women’s Super League title in 2016 and several other trophies. His success in the women’s game has made him a standout candidate for Arsenal’s managerial vacancy.
However, Arsenal may face a challenge in securing Cushing’s services, as he is currently committed to New York City FC, who are in the midst of the MLS playoffs. Despite this, Arsenal’s willingness to wait suggests that Cushing is their top target.
In the interim, Renee Slegers has been placed in charge of the team, and the club is confident in her ability to lead the team until a permanent replacement is found.
Arsenal fans will be hoping for a swift resolution to the managerial search, as they look to bounce back from a tough start to the season and continue their pursuit of success in the Women’s Super League.
