According to The Evening Standard, Sevilla has indicated interest in signing midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga of Arsenal, and the La Liga side is now in talks with the gunners on a possible summer transfer.

Lokonga, who had a good loan stint at Luton Town last season despite being hampered by injuries, has been informed by Arsenal that he is no longer part of their long-term plan. The Belgian midfielder was signed from Anderlecht in the summer of 2021, with high hopes that he could develop into a top player under Mikel Arteta’s guidance.

Although Lokonga has shown promise during his debut season at the Emirates Stadium, it appears that the team has outgrown him. Talks between Arsenal and Sevilla are centered on an initial loan agreement with an obligation to buy. However, the specifics of how that clause will be triggered have not yet been agreed upon.

Arsenal is pushing for a guaranteed obligation to buy at the end of the loan period, while Sevilla prefers the clause to be activated based on certain milestones. Despite Lokonga’s impressive loan performance at Luton Town, there does not seems to be much interested in him.
