Arsenal and Man United Target Compared to Luis Suarez by Teammate

Gyokeres Arsenal transfer talks heat up as Sporting Lisbon’s star forward draws closer to a Premier League move.

Viktor Gyokeres’ Arsenal transfer has made headlines as a potential summer signing. His performances for Sporting Lisbon have been nothing short of spectacular, and now, his teammate Maxi Araujo has likened him to legendary Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez.

Araujo, who plays alongside Gyokeres at Sporting Lisbon, described him as a “beast” and an “animal” on the pitch. He emphasized Gyokeres’ relentless competitive nature, stating that the striker is always hungry for goals and never stops pushing himself. According to Araujo, Gyokeres’ ability to create opportunities out of nothing and his aggressive playing style remind him of Suarez, who was known for his tenacity and goal-scoring prowess.

“He’s surprised me a lot since the day I arrived.

“He’s like that in training, he’s a competitive animal. He can score three goals and want to score the fourth.

“He reminds me a lot of Luis Suarez. He only knows how to score goals, always scoring goals and running after every ball.”

Araujo added: “When the team needs something, he pulls a rabbit out of the hat, a corner, a foul. Sometimes when the team isn’t doing so well, he’s very important in that minute.” Maxi Araujo told Portuguese sports daily A Bola.

Since joining Sporting Lisbon from Coventry City in 2023, Gyokeres has developed into one of Europe’s most lethal strikers. His goal-scoring ability has helped Sporting Lisbon secure back-to-back Portuguese league titles, and he recently reached his 100th appearance for the club. His performances have caught the attention of several Premier League clubs, with Arsenal emerging as a strong contender for his signature.

Arsenal is reportedly keen on signing Gyokeres to bolster their attacking options. Mikel Arteta sees him as a potential solution to their striking woes, and his aggressive playing style could fit well into Arsenal’s tactical setup. However, Manchester United is also in the race, with the possibility of Gyokeres reuniting with former Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.

Gyokeres’ rise to prominence has been remarkable, and his playing style, which is characterized by aggression, determination, and an insatiable desire for goals, has drawn comparisons to Luis Suarez. Whether he ends up at Arsenal or Manchester United, his arrival in the Premier League promises excitement and goals aplenty.
