Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi responds to Arsenal and Chelsea transfer interest as Premier League clubs track the £43m-rated teenager.

Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi has addressed growing transfer speculation linking him with Arsenal and Chelsea, admitting his long-term future remains open despite recently extending his contract.

The 18-year-old, regarded as one of Europe’s brightest midfield prospects, insisted his focus remains on the current season but stopped short of ruling out a move in the summer.

Bouaddi has enjoyed a remarkable ascent since making his senior debut at just 16 years old. Now a regular in Lille’s midfield, he has impressed with his composure, tactical awareness, and maturity beyond his years.

This season, he has played a key role in Lille’s push for Champions League qualification, with the club currently sitting fourth in Ligue 1. His development was further underlined when he debuted for France’s Under-21 side at 17, becoming one of the youngest players in the squad’s history.

Contract Extension Fuels Transfer Interest

Although Bouaddi signed a contract extension until 2029, the move has done little to cool interest from Europe’s elite. Reports suggest Lille would consider offers in the region of £43m–£52m, should a major bid arrive.

Alongside Arsenal and Chelsea, clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid have also been linked, but Premier League sides are believed to be at the front of the queue.

Speaking to L’Équipe, Bouaddi made it clear that decisions will be taken later:

“I have extended until 2029, and next year is still far away. I am focused on this season. At the end of the season, there will be a choice to make, and anything can happen.”

Those comments will be noted closely by Arsenal and Chelsea, as they suggest the door is not fully closed to a future transfer.

Arsenal’s interest fits Mikel Arteta’s recruitment model, which prioritises young, high-upside players capable of developing into elite starters.

Reports claim Arsenal’s sporting director Andrea Berta has already held discussions with Bouaddi’s representatives, signalling genuine interest ahead of the summer window. Arteta has also publicly stated that the club remains “alert” to market opportunities when squad depth or future planning demands it.

Chelsea, meanwhile, continue to invest heavily in emerging talent. Bouaddi’s age, versatility, and technical quality align perfectly with the club’s long-term rebuild strategy.

With midfield balance still a work in progress at Stamford Bridge, Bouaddi is viewed as a potential future cornerstone rather than an immediate starter.

Lille Hold Strong—for Now

Lille are under no immediate pressure to sell. Bouaddi remains central to their Ligue 1 campaign and Europa League progress, where they have collected nine points from five matches.

However, a bidding war involving Premier League clubs could test their resolve, especially if offers climb beyond £40m for a player still in his teens.

As the season progresses, Bouaddi’s performances will dictate the scale of interest. A strong second half of the campaign could elevate his value even further and make him one of the most sought-after midfielders in Europe.

For Arsenal and Chelsea, the message is clear: monitor closely, prepare early, and be decisive if the opportunity arises.
