Antonio Rudiger has praised Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba, claiming they are among the top three center-backs currently.
In an interview with InsideScoopHQ, the Real Madrid defender shared his admiration for the Arsenal’s defensive duo, Gabriel Magalhães and William Saliba. According to Rüdiger, these two centre-backs have been instrumental in Arsenal’s resurgence under Mikel Arteta.
“I would go for, William Saliba, Virgil van Dijk and Gabriel Magalhaes from Arsenal as well,” the Madrid star said when asked who he thinks are the best three centre-backs right now excluding him.
“If you see Arsenal, the two centre backs playing together, for two years now they’re doing an amazing job.
“The transformation from Arsenal that was a bit before and now – those two are the pillars of it.
“You have Gabriel the aggressive leader, and Saliba – this brother plays clean! You have to give it to him, he looks like a silent leader.”
Rüdiger highlighted Gabriel’s role as the “aggressive leader” in Arsenal’s backline. Known for his physicality and commanding presence, Gabriel has become a cornerstone of the Gunners’ defense. His ability to read the game, coupled with his fearless tackling, has made him a formidable opponent for any striker. Rüdiger’s praise underscores Gabriel’s importance in setting the tone for Arsenal’s defensive solidity.
On the other hand, Rüdiger described William Saliba as a “silent leader” who plays with remarkable composure and precision. Saliba’s style is characterized by his clean tackles and calm demeanor, which have earned him a reputation as one of the most promising young defenders in the Premier League. Rüdiger’s comments about Saliba’s “clean” play and leadership qualities highlight the Frenchman’s crucial role in Arsenal’s defensive setup.
Rüdiger’s insights shed light on the complementary nature of Gabriel and Saliba’s partnership. While Gabriel brings aggression and leadership, Saliba offers composure and tactical intelligence. Together, they form a balanced and effective defensive duo that has been pivotal in Arsenal’s recent successes.
