Alexander Isak transfer rumor to Arsenal is gaining momentumβ€”and it’s not just fans who are excited. According to club legend Ian Wright, two of Arsenal’s defensive stars, William Saliba and Gabriel, have personally urged manager Mikel Arteta to sign the Newcastle United striker this summer.

Speaking on The Kelly and Wrighty Show, Wright revealed that Saliba and Gabriel were left stunned after facing Alexander Isak earlier this season. β€œWatching Isak against Saliba and Gabriel was torture,” Wright said. β€œHe gave them a torrid timeβ€”running at them, backing into them, linking play, scoring. He did it all.”

Wright believes Saliba and Gabriel felt so impressed by Isak’s performance that they urged Arteta directly: β€œWe’ve got to go and get that guy.” Their push strengthens the growing speculation that Arsenal plans to target Isak as their marquee striker signing.

Arsenal’s Need for a Clinical No. 9

Arsenal’s 2024/25 campaign has been solid but not spectacular. Despite strong performances from Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, the Gunners have struggled to find consistent goal-scoring form. Wright has repeatedly emphasized the need for a striker who can β€œchange games,” and Isak fits that profile perfectly.

Not surprisingly, at 25, Isak enters his prime with confidence. He has scored 20 goals in 28 Premier League matches this season and continues to torment defenders with explosive pace, raw power, and sharp technical skills. He dominated two of Arsenal’s three meetings with Newcastle, scoring in both and fueling intense interest in a potential transfer. His performances haven’t just impressed fansβ€”they’ve left Arsenal’s backline visibly rattled and sparked serious conversations about bringing him to the Emirates.

Newcastle United, currently sitting in the top six, view Isak as a key part of their future under Eddie Howe. With a contract running until June 2028, the Magpies are under no pressure to sell. Any deal would likely exceed Β£100 million, making it one of the most expensive transfers in Premier League history.

Wright acknowledged the challenge, saying he’d be β€œdevastated” if Arsenal missed out on Isakβ€”especially to a rival like Liverpool, who are also reportedly interested.

Arteta’s Tactical Vision and Recruitment Strategy

Arteta has been deliberate in his recruitment, targeting players who fit his system and elevate the team’s competitiveness. Recent additions like Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino have added depth, but the absence of a reliable No. 9 remains a glaring issue. Isak’s versatility, Premier League experience, and ability to thrive with Arsenal’s creative midfield make him an ideal candidate.

Alexander Isak transfer to ArsenalΒ could be the missing piece in Mikel Arteta’s puzzle. Backed by vocal support from key players and championed by Ian Wright, Isak fits the mold of exactly what Arsenal needsβ€”a striker who can change games. With his versatility, Premier League experience, and the kind of presence that unsettles even the best defenders, the Gunners may finally be ready to make a bold move this summer.
