Arsenal have secured successive wins against Nottingham Forest, West Ham, and Manchester United over the past few weeks, positioning themselves once again as contenders in the Premier League title race.
Alan Shearer, the Newcastle United legend, has shared his thoughts on what Arsenal must do to challenge Liverpool for the Premier League title this season. According to Shearer, the key factor for Arsenal is keeping their star players, Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka, fit and in top form.
Shearer believes that Arsenal has a strong chance of winning the title if Odegaard and Saka can stay injury-free. “If they can keep Odegaard and Saka fit, then I do think they’ll have a lot to say in the title race,” Shearer told Betfair. He emphasized that Arsenal needs to take the next step and perform consistently at a high level.
Arsenal is currently seven points behind Liverpool, who have been in excellent form this season. Despite this gap, Shearer is optimistic about Arsenal’s chances, especially given their recent performances. “Arsenal have to go to the next step, and that’s what they signed the players in the summer for, and everything about them tells me that they’re in the title race,” he added.
While Shearer acknowledges Liverpool’s strong position, he also believes that the title race is far from over. “Liverpool are red-hot favourites to win the title at this moment in time – and rightly so – but I think Arsenal will have a lot to say about it,” he said. He pointed out that Liverpool will need to maintain their form and address any weaknesses that arise.
