Newcastle legend Alan Shearer was left speechless by Ethan Nwaneri’s outstanding display following Arsenal’s tense 2-0 win over Leicester, praising the youngster as a ‘potential superstar’.
Arsenal defeated Leicester City 2-0 in a thrilling Premier League match at the King Power Stadium, with Alan Shearer naming 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri the game’s standout player.
Shearer, the Premier League’s all-time top scorer, was full of praise for Nwaneri’s performance, describing him as a “potential superstar” and the “brightest spark” for Arsenal. Despite Arsenal struggling for large parts of the game, Nwaneri consistently posed a threat to Leicester’s defense.
Nwaneri’s dynamic display included an exquisite cross that led to Mikel Merino’s 81st-minute goal, securing the win for the Gunners. Shearer highlighted Nwaneri’s ability to work the ball onto his left foot, cut inside, and take shots at goal. He also praised the young winger’s willingness to exploit space on the right-hand side.

“Even when things weren’t going for them, he was the one probing, putting crosses in, and having pops at goal,” Shearer said on Match of the Day. “He was the best player on the pitch today, so lively.”
