Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has weighed in on the recent £34 million transfer of Emile Smith Rowe to Fulham, expressing optimism about the move. The 24-year-old midfielder bid an emotional farewell to the Emirates Stadium, having been with the club since the age of ten. While many Arsenal fans will miss him, Parlour believes that this transfer is beneficial for both parties.

Speaking to The Sun, Parlour stated, “The deal is great for both parties. Fulham is getting an excellent player, and Smith Rowe has a good opportunity to prove Arteta wrong.” The former Gunners midfielder emphasized that Smith Rowe needs regular game time to continue his development, something he wasn’t guaranteed at Arsenal, where he spent the last two seasons on the fringes of Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Parlour, who made 466 appearances for Arsenal between 1992 and 2004, understands the challenges faced by players. He hopes that Smith Rowe will seize this chance to prove doubters wrong and potentially work his way back into England’s national team. The move represents a step in the right direction for Arsenal’s outgoing business, and the funds from Smith Rowe’s sale could be reinvested to strengthen the squad further.
