Bruno Guimarães has confirmed he will remain at Newcastle United this season, amidst speculation linking him to Arsenal and Manchester City. The Brazilian playmaker, who joined the Magpies from Lyon in January 2022, has been the subject of transfer rumors this summer, with both Arsenal and Manchester City expressing interest. However, Guimarães has made it clear that he is focused on Newcastle.
Speaking to the club’s website Guimarães expressed his gratitude to the club: “I’m very happy to be starting another season with this club that has done so much for me since my first day here,”
“I’m glad to be back and more prepared than ever to have a brilliant season and to help Newcastle reach the highest possible position!
“Another dream has come true! Being the captain of this team is everything I’ve always dreamed of but never imagined! We’re in this together, and I’m sure I’ll be more dedicated than ever to this badge.”
His words came after a period of financial pressure for Newcastle, which they managed to avoid sanctions for breaches of Profit & Sustainability Rules before the deadline of June 30.
