Michael Owen has revealed the only way Arsenal can still beat Liverpool to the Premier League title despite a disappointing loss to West Ham.
Former England striker Michael Owen shared his thoughts on Arsenal’s chances of clinching the Premier League title ahead of Liverpool. Following a disappointing 1-0 defeat to West Ham, Arsenal’s title hopes have taken a significant hit. The loss, which saw Myles Lewis-Skelly sent off and the team struggling to find the back of the net, leaves Arsenal eight points behind league leaders Liverpool.
Owen, speaking on Premier League Productions, emphasized that Arsenal must win all 12 of their remaining league games to have any chance of overtaking Liverpool. He acknowledged the challenges Arsenal faces, particularly their lack of firepower and the need for other teams to help by taking points off Liverpool.
Despite Liverpool’s recent stumbles, Owen highlighted their brilliant season and the difficulty Arsenal will have in catching up. He pointed out that Liverpool needs 29 points from their remaining 26 games, which is not a guaranteed outcome, but Arsenal’s struggle for goals makes their task even harder.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright also weighed in, expressing his disappointment with the team’s performance and their decision not to make any signings during the January transfer window. Wright noted the lack of creativity and firepower, which has left Arsenal fans feeling down and uncertain about their title chances.
As Arsenal prepares for their next match against Nottingham Forest, they must keep the pressure on Liverpool and hope for a series of favorable results to stay in the title race. The Gunners’ journey to the top will be challenging, but with determination and a bit of luck, they might still have a shot at the Premier League title.
