Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger remarks that Mikel Arteta has a ‘special talent’ in Ethan Nwaneri, noting similarities between the teenager’s mentality and that of a young Cesc Fabregas.

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has drawn comparisons between young Arsenal talent Ethan Nwaneri and former Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas. Wenger, who managed Fabregas during his time at Arsenal, praised Nwaneri’s maturity and mental strength, noting that the 17-year-old reminds him of the young Fabregas.

Nwaneri has been making waves in the Premier League this season, stepping up in the absence of key players like Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with Wenger highlighting his exceptional dribbling skills, quality of passing, and overall maturity. “When I look at him and his maturity, it’s difficult for me to think he’s 17 years old,” Wenger said.

The comparisons to Fabregas are high praise, considering the Spaniard’s impact during his time at Arsenal. Fabregas was known for his strong mentality and ability to create opportunities for his teammates, traits that Wenger sees in Nwaneri. “Nwaneri is more a creator of the final ball through his dribbling and the quality of his passing,” Wenger added.

Nwaneri’s recent performances have been nothing short of impressive. In Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Leicester City, he was the standout player, contributing to six of Arsenal’s eleven total shots on goal[. His ability to maintain composure and deliver under pressure has drawn comparisons to some of the greatest players in football history.

While Joe Cole likened Nwaneri to Lionel Messi, Wenger believes the young midfielder’s mentality and style of play are more akin to Fabregas. “The sign of a special talent is that they are ready early,” Wenger concluded.

It will be interesting to see where Nwaneri’s talent can take him as he continues to develop and make his mark in the Premier League. With Wenger’s endorsement and comparisons to legendary players, the future looks bright for this young Arsenal star.
