Arsenal attacking effectiveness is diminished by fitness worries during a tough time.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that the club is considering signing a free agent striker to address their ongoing injury crisis. With key forwards Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz ruled out for extended periods, Arteta is exploring all possible options to bolster the team’s attacking options.
Gabriel Martinelli is expected to be out for over a month due to a hamstring strain sustained in the Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle, while Kai Havertz will miss the rest of the season after requiring surgery for a hamstring injury picked up during the club’s winter training camp in Dubai.
Arteta emphasized the need for resilience and adaptability, stating, “We’ll explore every possible situation and make a decision from there.” The Arsenal manager is open to bringing in a free agent to help the team navigate through this challenging period.
Potential targets include former Chelsea and Wolves striker Diego Costa, as well as other free agents like Carlos Vela, Lucas Perez, Maxi Gomez, Mariano Diaz, and Wissam Ben Yedder. Arteta’s primary focus is to ensure the team remains competitive in the Premier League title race despite the setbacks.
