Mikel Arteta and Arsenal may once again be without a recognised striker due to the latest injury development.

Arsenal’s injury crisis has deepened with the latest setbacks to Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kai Havertz, leaving manager Mikel Arteta with a depleted squad as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures.

Takehiro Tomiyasu, the versatile Japanese defender, has been plagued by knee issues throughout the season. Despite returning to action briefly in October, Tomiyasu has played just six minutes in the Premier League this season. The latest reports suggest that he may require a second knee surgery, which could sideline him for a significant period. Arteta expressed his concern, stating, “Tomi is a player that everybody loves in there. He’s always the first [in training] and he’s always the last out.”

Meanwhile, Kai Havertz, Arsenal’s top scorer this season with 15 goals, sustained a hamstring injury during the club’s training camp in Dubai, according to the Daily Mail. The extent of Havertz’s injury is yet to be confirmed, but any absence would be a major blow to the team’s attacking options. With Gabriel Jesus already out for the season and Bukayo Saka not due back until next month, Arteta’s squad is stretched thin.

The injuries to Tomiyasu and Havertz come at a crucial time for Arsenal as they aim to close the gap on Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table. Arteta will be hoping for minimal absences and quick recoveries for his key players.
