The Gunners are forced to anxiously await confirmation on first-choice goalkeeper’s availability ahead of Manchester City clash.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided an update on goalkeeper David Raya’s injury status ahead of the highly anticipated clash against Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium. Raya, who missed Arsenal’s recent Champions League match against Girona due to a muscular injury, remains a doubt for Sunday’s Premier League encounter.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Arteta revealed that Raya’s availability is still uncertain. “We’re still uncertain,” Arteta said. “We have another session tomorrow, another 48 hours, so we have to wait and see. It’s a muscular injury, so we have to wait and see.”
Raya’s absence in the Girona match saw Brazilian goalkeeper Neto make his debut for Arsenal. Although Neto had a shaky start, conceding an early goal, he managed to steady himself and help Arsenal secure a 2-1 victory. Arteta expressed confidence in Neto’s ability to step in if Raya is unable to play. “Neto has done a great job in his career, and he’s here to do that job,” Arteta added.

The Gunners are hoping for a positive update on Raya’s condition, as his presence would be crucial in facing a resurgent Manchester City side. With City also dealing with their own injury concerns, including the absence of Ruben Dias and doubts over Jeremy Doku’s fitness, the match promises to be an intriguing battle.
