William Gallas has acknowledged that he is having difficulty understanding Arsenal’s decision to approve the signing of Martin Zubimendi.
Former Arsenal defender William Gallas expressed his confusion over the club’s decision to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi. Gallas, who played for Arsenal from 2006 to 2010, admitted that he struggled to understand why the Gunners chose to invest in another midfielder when their pressing need has been for a striker.
I can’t understand why Arsenal are signing MartÃn Zubimendi,” Gallas told Spin Genie. “They have so many midfielders and that should not have been the priority. They need a striker and possibly a central defender.
“William Saliba is out injured and Jurrien Timber has to play at centre-back with Thomas Partey at right-back,” Gallas added. “Their transfer business has left me very confused. Maybe Mikel Arteta should be asked that question about why they didn’t sign a striker.”
Martin Zubimendi is said to have agreed to join Arsenal in the summer, but I think they should have focused on other areas first.”

Gallas pointed out that Arsenal’s struggles in the final third have been a recurring issue. The club has been linked with several top strikers, but no signings have been confirmed yet. Gallas believes that bringing in a proven goal-scorer should have been the priority, especially with injuries to key players like Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka.
Gallas highlights the importance of having a “killer” in the squad, someone who can make a difference in crucial moments. He urged Arsenal to make a “killer” January transfer move to address their attacking woes. The former defender believes that not having a world-class striker has cost Arsenal valuable points this season.
