Arsenal are working to complete a deal for Rosenborg’s teenage prodigy Sverre Nypan and are in advanced negotiations with the player’s representatives to sign the promising young midfielder, according to The Athletic’s journalist David Ornstein. The 18-year-old Norway youth international has attracted significant attention due to his impressive performances in the Norwegian top-flight.
Nypan, who has been compared to Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard, has been a standout player for Rosenborg, making his senior debut at just 15 years old in 2022. In May 2023, he set a record as Rosenborg’s youngest scorer in a league match, at 16 years and 145 days old. His versatility as an attacking midfielder, capable of playing both as a No. 8 or No. 10, makes him an attractive prospect for Arsenal.
Since then, numerous top clubs have shown growing interest in Nypan, and the competition for his signature is fierce. However, Arsenal are now pushing forward in an attempt to win the race for his transfer.
The Gunners are keen to secure Nypan’s signature. However, no firm decision has been made, and no agreements are in place yet, meaning the situation remains open.
Arsenal are reportedly optimistic about his potential signing, viewing Nypan as a valuable addition to the squad. The club is looking to bolster their midfield options and believes Nypan’s talent and potential make him a perfect fit for the team.
