Manchester United are said to have made an approach to Arsenal with a view to signing their highly regarded teenage defender, Ayden Heaven, according to reports.
Manchester United have reportedly made contact with Arsenal regarding the potential signing of highly-rated teenage defender Ayden Heaven. The 18-year-old has attracted interest from several clubs, including German side Eintracht Frankfurt and La Liga giants Barcelona but it is Manchester United who are currently leading the race to secure his signature in the January transfer window, report Fabrizio Romano.
Heaven, who made his first-team debut for Arsenal in the Carabao Cup win over Preston North End in October, has been a standout performer in the Hale End academy. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has praised Heaven’s performances, particularly during a pre-season friendly against United in California.
Despite Arsenal’s attempts to offer a new deal to keep Heaven at the Emirates, the allure of a move to Old Trafford seems strong. Heaven’s versatility, being able to play as a centre-back, left-back, and even in central midfield, makes him an attractive prospect for United.
The potential transfer has drawn comparisons to United’s previous acquisition of Denmark youth international striker Chido Obi-Martin, who also left Arsenal during the summer. United will be hoping to repeat their success with Obi-Martin by adding Heaven to their ranks.
