Arsenal’s interest in Wolves goalkeeper Dan Bentley has intensified after his notable absence from the club’s recent kit launch.
The Gunners have made three offers for Bentley, with the latest bid around £300,000. Wolves have rejected these offers, holding out for a fee closer to £1 million.
Having recently secured David Raya from Brentford on a permanent deal, Arsenal now need to assess their goalkeeping options. Raya established himself as the new No. 1 under Mikel Arteta, pushing Aaron Ramsdale to the bench for much of the previous season. Ramsdale, who is unhappy with his lack of playing time, is looking to leave the Emirates.
Interestingly, Bentley began his youth career at Arsenal before moving to Southend United in 2009. His familiarity with the club’s goalkeeper coach, Inaki Caña, from their time together at Brentford, adds another layer to the potential transfer. With Karl Hein, Arsenal’s third-choice goalkeeper last season, due to go on loan, Arteta’s need for additional goalkeeper options grows.
Wolves holding firm on their valuation and Arsenal’s need for a third goalkeeper, the transfer saga is likely to continue in the coming weeks.
