Mikel Arteta said he was extremely proud of his players’ display, despite experiencing consecutive defeats in cup competitions.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was unable to conceal his pride in his team’s performance, even after Arsenal lost to Manchester United in the FA Cup. After a dramatic penalty shootout that saw United advance, Arteta praised his team, saying, “I cannot be prouder of my players.”
“Incredible how you don’t win that game, that’s basically to sum up,” Arteta said. “The dominance, the superiority in relation to the opposition and everything that we did to try to win the game and that’s it we didn’t get what we deserved clearly.
“But there is an element that is about putting the ball in the back of the net that we did once and the amount of situations chances, penalties that we had we didn’t.
“We go home extremely sad but I cannot be prouder of my players, the team, the individual collectively what they produced on Wednesday against two top teams it’s incredible.
“But we haven’t got rewarded and that’s the downside too.”
Arteta highlighted the team’s dominance throughout the match, noting that they created numerous chances and played exceptionally well against a strong opponent. “The performance was incredible,” he said. “We didn’t get the result we deserved, but the effort and quality shown by the players were outstanding.”
Despite the disappointment, Arteta’s words reflect his unwavering belief in his squad and their potential. Arsenal fans will be hoping that this resilience and determination will translate into better results in the future.
