Arsenal are making significant moves in the transfer market, with the Calafiori deal nearing completion, and paving the way for Kiwior’s exit.
Jakub Kiwior is expected to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer after receiving notice from Arsenal that he is free to quit the club, according to Polish publication Meczyki. The 24-year-old Polish defender joined Arsenal from Spezia in January last year for £21 million. Since then, he has featured in 38 matches, contributing to five goals. Although Kiwior has impressed during his time in North London, Mikel Arteta’s team has decided to part ways with him.
Despite having four years left on his contract, Kiwior will seek new opportunities elsewhere. The Gunners have already struck a deal with Bologna for the services of Riccardo Calafiori, which leaves no room for Kiwior in their squad. Calafiori can play both as a left-back and in central defense, making him a valuable addition to Arsenal’s ranks.
Arsenal’s pursuit of Riccardo Calafiori is nearing completion. The 22-year-old Bologna defender is expected to undergo a medical in the coming days, with a fee of approximately £42.1 million agreed. Calafiori’s impressive performances at Euro 2024 caught the attention of several clubs, but he gave his word to join the Gunners. His versatility and defensive prowess make him an exciting prospect for Arsenal.
Left-back has been an area of concern for Arsenal, and Calafiori’s arrival should bolster their options. Oleksandr Zinchenko struggled to make an impact last season, and Kiwior’s potential departure will pave way for the Italian youngster.
Arsenal has already secured David Raya on a permanent deal, but further attacking additions are possible if Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe move on.
