The signing of Riccardo Calafiori could trigger departures from the Arsenal backline. The Athletic reports that Kieran Tierney is highly likely to leave, while Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior could also be available for the right price.

The young Italian defender impressed in Serie A and at Euro 2024, despite Italy’s early exit. His arrival is seen as an exciting addition for Arsenal.

Signing Calafiori would be a significant move by Mikel Arteta, who has worked hard to elevate Arsenal’s standards since becoming manager five years ago.

Although Zinchenko and Kiwior have not performed poorly at Arsenal, Calafiori appears to be an upgrade and a better tactical fit for Arteta’s vision. Therefore, it might be best for the 22-year-old’s arrival to signal the departure of the others.

But considering the worries over Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli’s poor performances last season, some Arsenal fans could wonder if prioritizing signing defender is more important than bringing in a fresh attacking player.
