Mikel Arteta is confronted with a selection dilemma ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace due to Gabriel Jesus’s return to form.
Gabriel Jesus has recently shared that there is one question he will never ask Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta. Speaking after his impressive hat-trick against Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup, Jesus revealed his mindset regarding his role at Arsenal.
“I have knocked on a manager’s door only once in my life,” Jesus said. “I knocked on Pep Guardiola’s door – not to complain but to ask him what I could improve. I would never go to Mikel’s door and say, ‘I want to play’. There is competition. I understand, but I know I can help.”
Jesus emphasized that he believes in proving his worth through his performances on the pitch rather than demanding more game time. “A lot of people don’t watch the game. They just see the stats the day after and see who scored. People say, ‘Gabby played 20 games and scored once.’ But they don’t see I am coming on for five or ten minutes. The pressure to score goals will always be there. I am the No.9 for Arsenal. Even if I score ten, they will ask for 20 – and if it is 20, they ask for 30. This is the life.”
Jesus’ determination to let his performances speak for themselves has earned him respect from both his teammates and fans. Arteta also praised Jesus for his recent display, highlighting his positive impact on the team.
