Arsenal star Bukayo Saka admits that missing out on the Premier League title for two seasons in a row has been horrible.
Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has openly admitted that narrowly missing out on the Premier League title for two consecutive seasons has been “horrible.” The Gunners have finished as runners-up to Manchester City in both the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, and Saka is determined to use this disappointment as motivation to finally lift the trophy this season.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Saka said, “Itβs horrible, Iβll be honest. Itβs just that extra fuel for me and extra motivation. I want to get it over the line this season and try to lift the trophy, for sure.” He added, “You work the whole season and youβre so close, youβve literally got one hand on the trophy, youβre in the final or youβre right there to win the Premier League, or whatever trophy youβre competing for that season, and then you donβt win it. Itβs like the whole yearβs work and nothing to show for it.”
Despite the heartbreak, Saka remains optimistic about Arsenal’s chances this season. “Weβre not scared,” he said. “The last two seasons weβve competed for the league and come very close. Weβre also back in the Champions League, we have some experience there now, so we feel weβre ready to compete for every trophy. We really want to take that next step and try to win something.”
Saka’s determination and resilience are key qualities that have made him one of Arsenal’s most valuable players. As the Gunners continue their title challenge, Saka’s extra motivation could be the driving force they need to finally end their 20-year wait for a Premier League trophy.
