Arsenal Women secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Bayern Munich in the UEFA Women’s Champions League Group C match at Meadow Park on Wednesday night. The win ensures Arsenal finishes as group winners and advances to the quarter-finals.

The match started with high intensity from both sides, with Bayern Munich forcing an early save from Arsenal goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar. However, Arsenal quickly took the lead in the 7th minute when Katie McCabe’s corner delivery forced an own goal from Bayern Munich captain Glodis Viggosdottir.

Bayern Munich equalized before the break when Magdalena Eriksson scored from a corner, and they took the lead early in the second half with another goal from Eriksson, stretching to turn in Giulia Gwinn’s cross.

Arsenal responded swiftly, with Alessia Russo volleying in from a corner to level the score. The match remained tense, with both teams creating chances. In the 85th minute, Arsenal was awarded a penalty after Tuva Hansen handled an effort from Mariona Caldentey. Caldentey stepped up and confidently converted the penalty to secure the win for Arsenal.

The victory extends Arsenal’s unbeaten run to 11 matches across all competitions and sets up an exciting quarter-final draw. The draw will take place on February 7, with ties played on March 18-19 and 26-27.
