Arsenal handed triple injury boost ahead of Monaco clash

The Gunners hope to have some key players back in time for their Champions League match against Monaco.

Arsenal prepares for a crucial Champions League clash against AS Monaco on Wednesday night at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners are currently in a fierce battle to secure a spot in the top eight of the league phase, which would guarantee automatic qualification to the round of 16. However, their journey has been marred by a series of injuries, particularly in the defensive line.

In a recent press conference, Mikel Arteta provided an update on the injury situation, offering a glimmer of hope for the team. Arteta admitted that while the injuries have been a significant challenge, there is optimism that some key players might return for the Monaco match.

Gabriel Magalhaes, Riccardo Calafiori, and Oleksandr Zinchenko have all been sidelined with various injuries. Gabriel has missed the last two games due to a knee injury, but Arteta downplayed the severity of the problem, suggesting that the Brazilian defender could soon return to action. Similarly, Calafiori and Zinchenko are also injury doubts, but Arteta remains hopeful that they will be fit enough to play against Monaco.

Arteta emphasized that the final decision rests with the medical team, but he is optimistic about the trio’s chances of making it back in time for the crucial match. “I hope they can return, but it’s more a question for the doctors and physios to understand where we are,” Arteta said.

The potential return of Gabriel, Calafiori, and Zinchenko would be a massive boost for Arsenal as they face a tough challenge against Monaco. The French side is also dealing with their own injury woes, with defensive duo Wilfried Singo and Christian Mawissa suspended, and former Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun likely to miss out through a shoulder injury.
