The Gunners are reportedly close to finalizing a deal for Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna.
Positive discussions were recently held behind the scenes with Calafiori’s agent, Alessandro Lucci, leaving Arsenal feeling confident about completing the transfer.
Personal terms with the player were already agreed, and the deal is expected to keep him at the Emirates until June 2029.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Arsenal are ‘one step away’ from signing Calafiori after reaching a breakthrough in talks with Bologna.
It’s understood that Arsenal and Bologna have agreed a €50m package, while the final add-ons and bonuses are currently being discussed. the Bologna defender is very close to leaving Italy to join England under the guidance of Mikel Arteta and Arsenal.
The defender has ‘already expressed’ his desire to move to Arsenal, a club he’s said to have chosen over Chelsea.

Calafiori had a brief holiday following Italy’s Euro 2024 campaign but was back in individual training this week with a personal coach.
The Italy international is due to report back for pre-season training with Bologna this weekend ahead of their training camp in Valles, Alto Adige, located in the north of Italy.
