Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta could potentially lose a forward for an upcoming Premier League game.
Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus is at risk of serving a one-match suspension after accumulating four yellow cards in the Premier League this season. According to Premier League rules, a player who receives five yellow cards within their team’s first 19 matches is subject to a one-match ban.
Jesus, who has made 10 appearances for Arsenal this season, picked up his fourth yellow card in Arsenal 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest. With another booking, he will be suspended for the upcoming match against Manchester United.
Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager, has expressed concern over the team’s discipline issues, as they have already received three red cards in their opening eight games. “The most effective way, I have to be very honest, is not talking about it,” Arteta said. “Because we tried and we showed and we talked and we repeated the message that we had to play with 11 and it happened again after a week or after three weeks and they said: ‘Guys, let’s try something else.’ And then it disappeared. So I don’t know if it’s the right way or not but that’s what happened, that’s the reality.”
Jesus will need to be cautious in the upcoming matches to avoid suspension. The Brazilian forward has struggled with injuries this season but remains an important player for Arteta’s side.
