Lina Hurtig’s 89th-minute goal against Juventus on Thursday night sent us to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Arsenal Women clinched a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Juventus in their UEFA Women’s Champions League Group Stage match on Thursday night at the Emirates Stadium. The decisive goal came in the 89th minute from Lina Hurtig, who tapped home after a cross from Stina Blackstenius.
The match was a tense affair, with both teams struggling to break the deadlock in a first half that saw few clear-cut chances. Juventus defended resolutely, setting up in a low block to stifle Arsenal’s attacking threats. Despite several attempts, Arsenal couldn’t find the back of the net until Hurtig’s late heroics.
The win ensures Arsenal’s place in the quarter-finals of the Women’s Champions League, with two group matches still to play. Juventus, on the other hand, has been eliminated from the competition.
Arsenal interim manager Renee Slegers expressed her relief and satisfaction with the result, stating, “It was a tough game, but we showed great determination and resilience to get the win. Lina’s goal was crucial, and it’s a testament to the team’s spirit.”
The Gunners will now turn their attention to the Barclays Women’s Super League, with their next match scheduled against Aston Villa on December 8th. After that, on Thursday, December 12, we will head to Valerenga for the Champions League kickoff at 5:45 p.m.
